Earn-in agreement with Premier Gold
Located in Nevada
Gold mineralization occurring in a well preserved Walker Lane low sulfidation epithermal system with 5 kilometers of structurally controlled, steam heated alteration, outcropping gold cells to the north and south, and very little modern exploration.
On October 8th, 2020, Orogen announced it had optioned the Baby Doe gold property in Esmeralda County, Nevada to Au-Reka Gold Corporation, a subsidiary of Premier Gold Mines U.S.A.. Premier can earn up to a 100% interest in the Baby Doe gold project by making cash payments totaling US$1.0 million and spending US$10 million in exploration expenditures over an eight-year period. Once Premier has obtained a 100%interest, Orogen will retain a 3% net smelter return royalty (“NSR”) on the Baby Doe claims and a 1% NSR on the Mustang claims.
The Baby Doe project is located about 184 kilometers (56 miles) WSW of Tonopah in Esmeralda County, Nevada.
The Baby Doe project is a 5 km long volcanic hosted steam heated alteration cell which represents the uppermost expression of a prospective low sulfidation epithermal system. Historic mercury mineralization occurs as fumarolic cinnabar and native sulfur veins associated with widespread, structurally controlled zones of alunite. Powdery leached silica occurs along structural zones overlying a large gently northeast dipping chalcedonic blanket. Elevated Au + As + Sb occurs in the deepest incised canyons in the middle of the project associated with crystalline, locally platy quartz after calcite, supporting the low sulfidation epithermal model, and potential for precious metal mineralization at moderate depths.
Between 1927 and 1971 historic mercury mining on the project produced approximately 8,000 flasks of mercury from both underground and open pit operations. Multiple companies have explored for gold mineralization in the district including US Steel, BHP, Phelps Dodge, and Romarco. These companies have almost exclusively focused on outcropping gold bearing quartz veins located to the north and south of the project. The majority of the alteration cell has not been explored for buried gold mineralization.
