Location:Finnmark County, Norway
Metal:Gold
Target:Orogenic gold target in the underexplored greenstone belts of northern Norway

The 160 square kilometre Pasvik project is located in Finnmark County, northern Norway, approximately 35 kilometers south of the Sydvaranger Iron Mine. The project lies within the underexplored Pasvik Paleoproterozoic Greenstone Belt, which is situated at the western end of the broader North Transfennoscandian Belt. The gold potential of the northern Fennoscandian shield has been recently highlighted in Finland, by Agnico Eagle’s approximately four-billion-dollar consolidation of the Central Lapland and Kittila Greenstone Belts.

Overview

Pasvik is one of two projects being progressed through Orogen Royalties’ generative exploration alliance with Aurum Discovery, a private prospect generator based in Ireland. The alliance is focused on generating gold and silver exploration targets in prospective mineral belts within Norway, with Aurum contributing geological and in-country expertise and Orogen providing a two-year €500,000 budget across both projects.

The Pasvik project is centred on a Paleoproterozoic greenstone sequence unconformably overlying Archean basement to the north and structurally bound to the south by the South Pasvik Thrust Zone - a major south-dipping, low-angle deformation corridor. The project is focused on over twenty kilometres strike of this structure.

The project has seen sporadic historical exploration largely focussed on Nickel during the early 1990s. During this regional work, gold was first recognised at the Gjedde Lake zone as high-grade, arsenopyrite-bearing float samples grading up to approximately 15 g/t Au. Historical follow-up work, mostly based on till surveys that irregularly cover parts of the property, identified structurally controlled gold mineralisation beneath shallow glacial cover.

Limited historical drilling at Gjedde Lake, the only known drilling on the property, returned broad gold mineralisation. This includes 22 metres at 0.82 g/t Au from shallow intersections of transverse structures to the main shear fabric. Importantly, much of this prospective structural corridor remains untested.
